From first drafts to final chapters, see how Motif helps writers like you bring their stories to life.
I love that it's easy to use, and the templates are really helpful. I like that it is a web-based program, rather than something I'm storing on my laptop. Also, the support folks are quick to respond to questions. I'm rewriting a novel on it and it's helping me deal with all my moving pieces.
I didn't think I could fall in love with Motif any more....and then I got the Pro version. SAVE THE CAT novel templates?! This is what I use and I can NEVER find any good templates! I'm so excited!
My favorite feature by far is the Story Elements section. I think that the first thing I did before I even started writing is add all of my characters. I used the protagonist and antagonist tabs to really flesh them out. I really love the specific cards that give you prompts.
I adore Motif. It’s the only writing software I’ve ever felt accommodates what I need from a program. The ability to add notes in a hide-able side view to get thoughts down without committing to them and the Freeform Board are absolute game-changers.
I love the idea of Scrivener, but every time I tried it, I found the interface overwhelmingly complicated. Motif has all the organization, but a more user-friendly layout! There are also pre-made templates if you like the structure of having them. I'm going to get so much mileage out of the worldbuilding kit.
Motif is a lifesaver. Gone are the endless word documents with various titles and folders trying to organize my research. This website is world-building made easy. I love the Plan section and the Story Elements. These tools provide virtual post-its that are easy to read and find information at a glance.
I really like how simple it is. Simple and functional.
Thank you for your work!
I needed a place to organize all the short stories I’d written and Motif made it easy. I was able to write and edit all in one place. I even put together a book proposal and got in touch with an agent!
So many planning features! Definitely reminding me of Scrivener except the interface is a lot friendlier. It’s pretty cool (especially for any plotters).
